The sky has changed

Cheap aircraft now contest the low airspace over farms, ports, mines, prisons, stadiums, airports and bases. The threat no longer announces itself, files a flight plan, or arrives at a scale the old instruments were built to see. Every critical sector in Australia is discovering the same gap at the same time.

02THE PROBLEM

The drones that matter don't transmit

The most widely deployed way to find a drone is to intercept the radio link between it and its operator. A fibre-optic drone flies a cable and emits nothing. A fully autonomous drone has no operator link at all. Against them, that method is not degraded — it is blind.

So we build detection that never asks the target to cooperate. A drone cannot hide the sound it makes, the shadow it casts, or the echo it returns. Everything we build rests on what cannot be switched off.

03THE NETWORK

Many cheap eyes beat one exquisite sensor

The market's answer is fixed infrastructure: heavy sensors bolted to towers, priced accordingly, lost all at once. Ours is a mesh of low-cost nodes sensing on independent physical principles, where even the links the nodes use to talk to each other double as sensing — with N nodes there are N×(N−1) sensing paths, so every node added extends the sight of every node already standing.

The capability lives in the network, not in any single instrument. Lose a node and coverage bends; it does not break. A node costs a small fraction of what it costs an adversary to find and destroy it. The economics run the right way. Beacons, not fortresses.

04THE ADVANTAGE

Attack it, and it feeds

The passive layers listen to transmitters an adversary does not control. The acoustic layer cannot be jammed by radio at all. And a jammer is a loud transmitter at a fixed location — which makes it both an illuminator to see by and a target to locate. A system worth building is one that converts the attack against it into signal.

05THE METHOD

We are our own adversary

The fastest way to find a blind spot is to pay someone to fly through it. So Nardol is two teams. One builds drones meant to be undetectable — silent, cold, tethered, autonomous. The other builds the mesh that has to find them anyway. Red forces blue forward; blue forces red to get cleverer; neither is allowed to rest on the other's last defeat. The contest never ends, because the one outside our walls never does. We would rather be beaten by our own team on a Tuesday than by someone else's when it counts.
